It was way back in 2000 when my life was still quite simple yet still studying finishing my college degree in Physical Therapy. I can still remember how my life was as an intern. Every month, we have rotational volunteering work in various hospitals caring for various types of patients with ailments.
What I like the most was how my patients entertain me. They always tell stories about their life experiences and some valuable lessons they’ve learned. Despite of their current condition, some are full of hope and faith to recover and some are obviously desperate and sad.
I’m fulfilled when a patient recovers from his ailment or made a good progress in terms of strength, movement, and being independent on his/her daily living tasks. What makes me feel sad was the moment I have to leave and go to the next assigned hospital as an intern and because of this I needed to say goodbye to patients that I’ve encountered and treated.
After college, I volunteered as a physical therapist in our town, work abroad, became a transcriptionist, and now decided to be a self-taught artist to fulfill my passion in life.
Browsing through the internet, I encountered a scrub uniform on this wonderful website called www.blueskyscrubs.com, a website about various uniforms for medical professionals. Because of this, I remembered the beautiful scrubs I worn when I was volunteering at a local hospital. I think I am still keeping that blue scrubs in my plastic storage box under my bed. These scrubs actually is a pair of short sleeve polo shirt and pants in blue color like the ones in that website. So, I went to my room and I’ve found that scrub in that particular box. I’ve seen a lot of wonderful photos with patients and colleagues which rekindle special happy as well as sad memories during those years in my life. I’ve decided to keep it safe in that box so that when the time comes when I reopened this box again it will remind me about wonderful memories during my college years.
