I love seeing a vector design especially those that are hi-edged whenever I browse the Internet and seen one that fascinates me. Since I’m not a graphic artist, I envy those designs that are really, really great. It keeps me wondering how the designer created it. Also, I was trying to figure out what the designing techniques that were used.
So, I decided to start studying it.
I've started to browse some and read articles from various blogs or free tutorials. I've seen varieties of ready-made vectors. Some were free vectors that are wonderful and can be used without copyright issues. Since I’m just a beginner for this kind of knowledge, I decided to use Photoshop CS3 as my wand of designing. At least, I will soon slowly learn this in my own simple ways.
On my first day of study, I studied all about vector design. I've read a lot about it from various websites especially wiki. One thing I've learned is that it is an illustrating design that can be used in so many forms of media like banner, logo, brochure, eBook, website, eCard, etc. It is creatively tailored to enhance a picture to be used in those various forms I mentioned.
Since I’m on the beginners stage, I started to practice on a simple photo like this photograph of mine taken a few years ago. I guess, this is a skill that you can easily develop if you are eager enough to study it.
Through my studies about creating a simple vector, I had so many pauses and repetitions learning this and that kind of instructions from various tutorial videos. This way, I can easily understand and memorize the best practices in doing a vector design.
Finally, my patience paid off. I've finish my first vector design. It may not be that edgy, but I like the way I created it.
